RMHC – Ronald McDonald House Charities – is an independent Charity which aims to provide free ‘home away from home’ accommodation at specialist children’s hospitals, enabling families to stay close to their child and maintain a degree of normal family life. There are currently 12 Ronald McDonald Houses and 29 sets of Ronald McDonald Family Rooms across the UK, providing over 350 bedrooms every single night of the year.

Acute Myeloid Leukaemia (AML)

50 % of money raised at this years Yeah Baby is dedicated to raising money to fight childhood Leukaemia and is inspired by the memory of Amber Phillpott. Amber lost her battle with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia (AML) at just 18 months old. She bought happiness to all she met and has become an inspiration to many as she enjoyed life with a smile on her face right to the very end.
We are now determined to celebrate her short life by raising as much money as possible for front line AML research and have identified two projects that will hopefully make a huge difference.
Project 1 – Is researching why AML occurs in children and is happening at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford. Amber gave samples of blood and bone marrow to this and it has proved to be very useful.
Project 2 – BioBank organised by Leukaemai & Lymphoma Research is a project to set up a central UK bank for samples of blood, bone marrow and other tissues from children with leukaemia for use in specialist research projects into childhood leukaemia.
